City in Ecuador puts giant Paul McCartney logo on side of mountain

The stunt is to mark the Beatles legend's first ever performance in the country.

Local authorities and the Ecuadorian Beatles fanclub have teamed up to create a giant monument to Paul McCartney to mark his first ever concert in the South American country.

The former Beatle last night (April 28) performed at the Estadio De Liga in Quito and to mark the occasion, the logo from McCartney's 2013 album 'New' was recreated on the Pichincha Mountain, where it could be seen from much of the city.

Taking place at 2,800 metres above sea level, the Quito show was the highest concert McCartney has ever performed. He will later this week perform in Costa Rica for the first time as the 'Out There' tour continues.

Paul McCartney's Peru gig delights 40,000-strong crowd

The ex-Beatle's gig proved popular!

Beatle legend Paul McCartney performed his long-awaited concert at Lima's National Stadium on Friday night (April 25) to the delight of throngs of Peruvians.

Around 40 thousand fans enjoyed from McCartney's huge talent and his two-and-a-half-hour long landmark concert which kicked off at 9:30 p.m. local time.

The 71-year-old rock legend alongside his full band performed a 37-song set at the sold-out show which spanned his entire career, including songs from his Beatles and Wings days, as well as from his recent solo project, 'New'.

Peruvians music goers were so excited to see the former Beatle's second appearance in the Andean nation since 2009 that some had been camping outside the stadium since the day before.

The South American leg of McCartney's 'Out There' tour will continue this month in Uruguay, while Ecuador and Costa Rica will see the English performer play for the first time. The global tour will then head to Asia and the United States later on in the year.

Paul McCartney Tickets Sell Out In 20 Minutes

Fans were sprinting like rabbits to buy up tickets to Paul McCartney's forthcoming Target Field concert, and they ended up selling out in less time than it would take Beatles fans to listen to "Revolution 9" three times in a row.

According to representatives from the Minnesota Twins, the concert tickets that went on sale at 10 a.m. Monday morning were sold out in just 20 minutes.

The Twins said that there would potentially be a limited number of seats released by the concert promoter that could go on sale over the next few months for the Aug. 2 concert. Fans should check back at twinsbaseball.com/mccartney.

The concert will be McCartney's first at Target Field, but hardly his first in the Twin Cities.
The Beatles first performed in Minneapolis in 1965. It was the mega-popular band's only stop in the city.

McCartney has toured through Minneapolis as a solo act or with his band
Wings a number of times, including a stop in 2005

Ever wondered what a legendary superstar eats when he's on the road?

With MFM co-founder Paul McCartney on his 'Out There' tour, we caught up with EYHO (Eat Your Hearts Out), a rock 'n' roll touring catering company that has been going for the past 30 years and which caters ('Meat Free') for Paul and the crew.

The company is proud of its ability to absorb local culinary flavours as well serve old favourites from home. George Baker, EYHO's Dressing Room Catering Co-ordinator told us, "Our whole team is passionate about food and that is reflected in everything we serve".

Paul's first concert was in Montevideo, Uruguay, and the menu included 'Fish' (Tofu) 'n' Chips with Mushy Peas, 'Steak' and Ale Pie, and Classic Tatre au Citron.

Check out EYHO's recipe for 'Fish' (Tofu) 'n' Chips with Mushy Peas right here!

Paul is now in South America (Ecuador, Costa Rica) before continuing to Japan, South Korea and the States. We'll be sharing what's on the menu on show dates and featuring more of EYHO's exclusive 'Recipes from the Road' on meatfreemondays.com!

Paul to meet fans in Eucador

Five lucky fans from Quito, Eucador will get to meet Paul McCartney on April 28 when he plays his concert at Estadio de Liga.

A drawing was held for the 'meet and greet' by El Comericio who picked five fans out of the 33,000 who entered the contest.
April 26, 2014 -- Los Angeles Times

Paul McCartney to play August Dodger Stadium date

Paul McCartney will return to Los Angeles with an Aug. 10 date at Dodger Stadium, his first major L.A.-area concert since a two-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl in 2010. A public on-sale for the concert, part of McCartney's "Out There" tour, is set for May 5, but various pre-sales will enable fans to purchase tickets as early as April 29.

Tickets for the Goldenvoice-promoted concert start at $25 and stretch to $250, not including additional surcharges. Those with the first crack at tickets will be those signed up to the mailing list on McCartney's website, which fans can do now. The site's presale will begin at 9 a.m. on April 29.

Following the PaulMcCartney.com pre-sale, preference will then be given to American Express credit card holders, who can purchase tickets beginning May 1 at 10 a.m. The remaining tickets will go on sale May 5 at 10 a.m. via the Dodgers website.

The past year, like almost every year since 1964, has seen a bustle of Beatles-related activity. McCartney reunited with drummer Ringo Starr at the Grammy Awards, and the band was then saluted in its very own special commemorating the 50th anniversary of the act's appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show."

McCartney released a solo album, "New," late last year. The Times in its review gave the album three stars out of a possible four, writing that the work "balances past and present, memory and the future, distortion and clarity, notions of new and old." To promote the album, McCartney in September performed a concert on Hollywood Boulevard.

Yet McCartney concerts are celebrations of the artist's Beatles and post-Beatles work. The press release touting the "Out There" tour promises at least a three-hour experience -- one in which the last pre-encore song will never not be "Hey Jude" -- that spans the artist's work as a solo artist, as well his songs with The Beatles and Wings.

McCartney's band continues to include longtime collaborators Paul "Wix" Wickens on keyboards, bass guitarist Brian Ray, guitarist Rusty Anderson and drummer Abe Laboriel Jr.

McCartney, according to the press release, last played Dodger Stadium with the Beatles in 1966.

Back in the USSR? Fans fear Paul McCartney could boycott Russia because of human rights abuses

Macca has secretly met up with Pussy Riot amid speculation he could become the biggest-name star to snub Russia because of their human rights record

Sir Paul McCartney has secretly met up with Pussy Riot amid speculation he could become the biggest-name star to snub Russia because of their human rights record.

The music legend held a summit with members of the controversial feminist protest group in Los Angeles a fortnight ago as they thanked him for his support during their prison ordeal.

Sir Paul has previously met Vladimir Putin for tea in the Kremlin when he performed in Red Square in 2003.

The Russian leader, who was in the front row for the huge gig, has also confessed to being a fan of the Beatles.

But relations between the two men appear to have dramatically nosedived since with a string of political interventions by the singer against the politician's policies.

After being invited to meet the singer during his tour rehearsals in the American city, Pussy Riot said afterwards: "Sir Paul has repeatedly told us that he found it hard to believe that Russia - a country with such a rich and developed culture - accepts what Putin is doing today ."

Some Russian fans fears the 71-year-old won't play in the country again given his anti-Putin stance.

It comes after Cher and Blondie both turned down invites to perform in Russia, primarily because of the country's anti-gay legislation.

Macca is currently touring south America, with a series of gigs also lined up in South Korea, Japan and the United States.

Sir Paul had previously fired off a series of letters to the Russian authorities demanding jailed members of the punk band were freed.

Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova both served two-year sentences for "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred".

Their convictions followed a performance in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow of a song protesting against Vladimir Putin.

In one of the letters, Sir Paul wrote: "I have had a long relationship with the Russian people, and, with this in mind, I am making the following request in a spirit of friendship for my many Russian acquaintances who, like me, believe in treating people - all people - with compassion and kindness."

It is not the only cause that Sir Paul has backed which has the potential to antagonise Putin.

He also demanded the release of the 28 Greenpeace crew members and two journalists who were jailed after protesting against Arctic oil drilling.

In 2009, Putin said of his love for the Beatles: "Of course many generations in Russia have been raised by and still have a strong love of the creative works of the Beatles. I had the pleasure to meet, several years ago, Mr McCartney and of course their songs and the pieces that they have granted to this world are still on top."

McCartney concert tickets sell out in 1 hour

The Paul McCartney
concert scheduled for June 14 in Lubbock is now sold out.

Select-a-Seat sold all remaining tickets in an hour after they went on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday morning.

The capacity for the concert is set at 11,500.

There are still VIP packages available for the concert with prices that range from $470 to $2000 per person. Anyone interested in purchasing one can call 770-2000.

About 340 people also attended the wristband lottery drawing for the tickets at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Friday morning.

Select-a-Seat is the only authorized ticket vendor.

Texas Tech University and the City of Lubbock held a press conference on April 16 at the Buddy Holly Center concerning legendary singer, songwriter, Paul McCartney's scheduled appearance in Lubbock June 14.

Texas Tech officials such as TTU System Chancellor Kent Hance and Texas Tech President Duane Nellis along with Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson and other city representatives made the announcement as a collaborative effort between Texas Tech University and the City of Lubbock.

Chancellor Hance commented that this event would be a sellout before it even started while Mayor Glen Robertson said that McCartney himself reached out and expressed his desire to play in Lubbock.

McCartney, who will turn 72 this year, gained worldwide fame as a member of The Beatles. He has long credited Lubbock native Buddy Holly as one of his biggest musical influences.

In a 1974 interview, John Lennon said the name of The Beatles was "directly inspired" by The Crickets.

During the British Invasion "every group tried to be The Crickets," Lennon said.

PAUL McCARTNEY GETS BACK TO CANDLESTICK PARK & DODGERS STADIUM

'OUT THERE' 2014 CALIFORNIA DATES CONFIRMED:
August 10: Los Angeles, CA - Dodgers Stadium
August 14: San Francisco, CA - Candlestick Park

Following an incredible 2013 which saw Paul McCartney's 'Out There' tour launch in Brazil and visit 23 cities across South America, Europe, North America and Japan, Paul has now confirmed two more very special shows on the 2014 U.S. 'Out There' tour.

Currently tearing through Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Costa Rica, with Paul's return to Japan and debut in Korea set for next month, the 'Out There' 2014 world tour is now confirmed to visit the same pair of U.S. cities where The Beatles played their two very last shows:

Putting the rumor mill to rest, Paul has confirmed that he will indeed return to San Francisco August 14 to play Farewell to Candlestick: The Final Concert. This once in a lifetime occasion is sure to be doubly bittersweet as Paul closes the same iconic venue where The Beatles played their final concert date on August 29, 1966. Of Paul's most recent visit to San Francisco, headlining last year's Outside Lands festival, the SF Weekly gushed "One of pop music's original supernovas... let us bask in its incredible warmth for the best part of three hours The question of whether or not it was a 'good' show almost doesn't apply - Paul McCartney was good in a way that no other show could be."

A few days earlier on August 10, Paul will play Dodgers Stadium for the first time since The Beatles' penultimate live gig on August 28, 1966. The show will be Paul's first L.A. engagement since the 2010 two-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl of which the Los Angeles Times raved, "It's hard to think of much in the pop music world more impressive than a 67-year-old musician holding forth for nearly three hours, outdoors on a chilly March night, while delivering some three dozen songs, the least of which would be a career highlight for almost any other artist."

Fans registered with PaulMcCartney.com will be eligible to purchase pre-sale tickets from 9am (local time / 5pm BST) on Tuesday 29th April. To be eligible for this pre-sale fans must be registered with the website by 5am (PDT / 1pm BST) on Tuesday.

Register for pre-sale tickets by clicking HERE!

Tickets for the newly announced date will be on sale Monday, May 5 at 10am local time.

American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Thursday, May 1 at 10am through Sunday, May 4 at 10pm.

PAUL McCARTNEY IS GETTING BACK 'OUT THERE'

FIVE MORE U.S. SHOWS CONFIRMED FOR SUMMER 2014

July 9: Chicago, IL United Center
July 12: Fargo, ND Fargodome
July 14: Lincoln, NE - Pinnacle Bank Arena
July 16: Kansas City, MO - Sprint Center
August 2: Minneapolis, MN Target Field

STILL MORE DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED
Following an incredible 2013 which saw Paul McCartney's universally acclaimed 'Out There' tour launch in Brazil and visit 23 cities across South America, Europe, North America and Japan, Paul has confirmed another five shows on the 2014 U.S. 'Out There' tour. Currently tearing through Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Costa Rica, with Paul's return to Japan and debut in Korea set for next month, the upcoming 'Out There' 2014 world tour will now feature five more U.S. dates:

Paul will return to Chicago July 9 at the United Center, his first appearance in the Windy City since the legendary 2011 Wrigley Field doubleheader, a tour de force that moved the Chicago Tribune to rave, "Wringing new rivers of passion from songs he's played hundreds of times... McCartney played like he wasn't taking anything, including his place in rock history, for granted."

July will also see Paul playing long awaited first ever concerts in two U.S. cities: July 12 at the Fargodome in Fargo ND, and July 14 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, NE.

On July 16 Paul will return to Kansas City's Sprint Center for the first time since his 2010 'Up and Coming' Tour, a show "Most musicians a third of his age couldn't come close to equaling," per the Riverfront Times, and that moved The Pitch to implore, "Please come see us again soon, Paul."

Paul's August 2 show at Target Field in Minneapolis, will be both his first ever at the ballpark and the latest in a long and storied history with the Twin Cities: one that includes not only Paul's previous shows on 'The US Tour' in 2005 and 'The New World Tour' in 1993, but also a 1976 stop on the 'Wings over America' tour and began with The Beatles' one and only Minneapolis show in 1965.

The 'Out There' tour, as always, features music from the most beloved catalog in popular music, as Paul performs songs spanning his entire career - as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course as a Beatle. The set list will also include material from Paul's most recent studio album NEW, a global hit upon its release last year.

With massive screens, lasers, fireworks, unique video content and, of course, the best songs in the world, a Paul McCartney show is so much more than just an ordinary concert. Paul's shows attract a multi generational audience from different backgrounds all brought together by his music.

2014 got off to an incredible start for Paul as he set a personal career best by winning an incredible five GRAMMY Awards in one night. In the UK he was honored by music bible NME with a special one off award, the 'Songwriter's Songwriter Award' chosen for this unique accolade by his fellow peers.

Coachella 2014: Beyonce and Sir Paul McCartney 'become gym buddies' during music festival

The music legends hit the treadmills at the plush Four Seasons Hotel in the city where they have been staying during the Coachella Festival.

As gym buddies go, it doesn't get much more showbiz than this.

Beyonce has been working out with Beatle's legend Sir Paul McCartney.

The famous pair have been going through their paces at an LA gym, according to the Sun.

The music legends hit the treadmills at the plush Four Seasons Hotel in the city where they have been staying during the Coachella Festival.

After their workout, Macca, 71, and Beyonce, 32, reportedly did some Pilates before heading off for a RUN.

Beyonce thrilled fans at the festival when she made a surprise appearance on stage with her sister Solange.

It's a good job Sir Paul is staying in good physical shape after he added six more dates to the North American leg of his 'Out There' Tour.

Is that a Big Macca? Paul McCartney treats himself to a burger during lunch with wife Nancy Shevell in Beverly Hills

It was a lunchtime treat that looked more than a little Beatle juicy.

And
Sir Paul McCartney certainly seemed to be enjoying himself as he tucked into a burger for lunch in posh Beverly Hills on Wednesday (Greenleaf Restaurant).

The legendary musician was enjoying some quality time with wife Nancy Shevell in the well-heeled area of Los Angeles.

And he seemed to be having an even better time when he got to munch away on his Big Macca.

However the famous Evertonian will have been devastated later in the day when he discovered his team had crashed to a disastrous 3-2 loss at home to Crystal Palace.

Sir Paul was looking in good shape for a 71-year-old in a lurid yellow T-shirt, blue bodywarmer, grey running bottoms and trainers.

And it seems his presence still excites devoted fans. for he was accosted in the street by an excited autograph hunter as he headed back to his car following his meal.

While he may be a pensioner, Sir Paul is certainly not slowing down, and announced he will be headlining a concert in Lubbock, Texas in June at the Buddy Holly Center, a fitting venue given how inflential the pioneering rock and roller was to
The Beatles.

'If it wasn't for the Crickets, there wouldn't be any Beatles,' Sir Paul said in his 1985 documentary, The Real Buddy Holly Story. He also still owns the musical rights to Holly's back catalogue.

Tickets for his upcoming show at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York, sold out in just 30 minutes.

The Wings favouite has also asked his fans around the world to help make the music video for the track 'Save Us' from his upcoming album 'New.'

He's asked fans to send in pictures of themselves holding up a sheet of paper with a lyric from the song, with the most creative snaps being selected to appear.

'We would like you to pick a line or two from Paul's song Save Us (or pick every line if you want!) and take a photo of yourself with it,' it says on McCartney's website.

'You could write the words on a piece of paper; make something with the words on; do something on your computer - remember, the more creative your photo, the more chance you have of being included!'

Paul McCartney concert: Let it be at new stadium, 49ers say

The 49ers are in talks with Paul McCartney to perform the opening concert at their new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara - a move that would effectively yank the rug out from under San Francisco's plans for the music legend to headline a final send-off concert at Candlestick Park.

Mayor Ed Lee personally invited McCartney to close the Stick when the former
Beatle played at the Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park last year.

The idea was to say goodbye to the ballpark where the Beatles played their final paid concert in 1966.

McCartney's reps and the city had been talking since Lee made the offer, and City Hall was convinced that the show was all but a done deal.

It all changed, however, when McCartney's envoys, including his worldwide concert promoter, Barrie Marshall, toured Candlestick last month and let slip that they had just visited Levi's Stadium as part of negotiations with the Niners for an opening concert there in early August.

It was a blindside hit that had city officials feeling betrayed.

Team execs insisted to San Francisco officials that they had been approached about hosting a McCartney show by Live Nation, the national promoter that has a financial stake in Sir Paul's management company.

Besides, the Niners said they had a fiduciary responsibility to their sponsors - including Levi's, which has a $220 million naming-rights deal at the stadium - to host a certain number of concerts a year.

"Classless" is how one San Francisco official greeted the Niners' play - which some see as the latest in a string of insults aimed at the city since owner John York announced in 2006 that the team was leaving town.

Sarah Ballard, spokeswoman for the city's Recreation and Park Department, which runs Candlestick, expressed disappointment at the prospect of losing the concert. But she steered clear of any name calling, noting that the decision on where to play was ultimately McCartney's.

Mayoral spokeswoman Christine Falvey said that regardless of how it all plays out, "the city is going to have a great farewell for Candlestick for the public." A representative for Live Nation said the company had no comment.

In a statement, the Niners said they book events on behalf of the Santa Clara Stadium Authority and "we continue to seek world-class sports and entertainment events that benefit the entire region."

Date night: Paul McCartney and wife Nancy Shevell dress to match as they dine out in Los Angeles

He is considered rock royalty and one of the world's greatest musicians.

But, pictured on a cosy date night in downtown Los Angeles this week, Sir Paul McCartney is also keen to enjoy romantic down-time with his wife.

The Liverpudlian singer and his beautiful partner, Nancy Shevell, were spotted dining out at Mr. Chow's restaurant in Beverly Hills - proving that they are a perfect match in more ways than one.

The founding member of The Beatles, 71, was wearing a blue suit jacket with black jeans and a simple black shirt for the occasion.

Meanwhile, with her hair looking glossy and smooth, Nancy followed suit in a blue and green floral jacket with cropped cuffs over black, velvet trousers.

Together they looked sartorially in sync with matching colours and tones.

Smiling broadly, they clearly enjoyed their time at the acclaimed eatery - which specialises in Beijing delicacies and is run by award-winning executive chef Yi Jia Qian.

A local hot-spot in LA, it has previously been frequented by the likes of Steve Martin, Claire Danes, Kate Beckinsale and Steven Spielberg. But McCartney will be used to such illustrious company. Joining him at Mr Chow's was Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra.

Likewise, just last month, Paul and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl took their wives to vegan restaurant Crossroads on Melrose Avenue in LA.

Together, Paul and David no doubt took a chance to celebrate their Grammy win in January for Best Rock Song.

The duo had teamed up with Ringo Starr and the other surviving members of Nirvana, bassist Krist Novoselic and touring guitarist Pat Smear, to form Sirvana and were awarded at the music ceremony for their track Cut Me Some Slack. 'This song was two hours in my studio,' Dave said during his Grammy acceptance speech.

SAVE US LYRICS:

(Guitar riff)

I can try to give you
Everything you ever wanted
You're not hard to please
And the only thing I'm asking
In return is something
You can give with ease

Keep on sending your love
In the heat of battle
You got something that'll
Save us
Save us now

(Guitar riff)

Got a feeling there's a
Jungle rhythm beating in me
When I'm close to you
I don't really want to
Ask too many favours, but there's
Something you can do

Keep on sending your love
In the heat of battle
We got something that'll
Save us
Save us now

Oh oh oh oh
You're my woman
Oh oh oh oh
Keep it coming
Oh oh oh oh
You've got something
That could save us
Save us

(Instrumental)

Keep on sending your love
Oh oh oh oh
Cos in the heat of battle
You got something that'll
Save us
Save us now
Save us now

Sir Paul McCartney dances, goes on Kiss Cam during Lakers-Clippers game

CLICK TO WATCH

Sir Paul McCartney was in a good mood at the Staples Center to see the Clippers play the Lakers Sunday. "Can't Buy Me Love" was played as a tribute to Paul who was featured on kiss cam inside the arena, and later did a crazy dance when he was shown on screen. Sir Paul is 71 years old, but he's got more energy than the 20-somethings sitting on the bench.

April 7, 2014 -- Daily Mail (UK)

Paul McCartney and wife Nancy Shevell engage in some PDA for the kiss cam during LA Lakers game

When it comes to Sir Paul McCartney showing his affection for his wife, he certainly isn't shy about it.

Paul took the opportunity to plant a kiss on his wife, Nancy Shevell, for the Kiss Cam at the Staples Center during an NBA basketball game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Lakers on Sunday in Los Angeles.

The 71-year-old singer lovingly pulled 53-year-old Nancy's face close to him and gave her a sweet kiss.

The pair seemed completely in their own world as they kissed despite all the fans surrounding them.

They sat together and held hands as they talked and watched the game.

After their PDA, Paul really got into the spirit of the game, as he waved his arms and cheered on his team even performing a few dance moves.

'I called up Paul and said, "Hey, man, do you want to come jam with some friends of mine?" He came over, we knocked this out in a couple of hours, and to me, that's what rock 'n roll is all about.'

It featured on the soundtrack for Dave's directorial debut documentary Sound City, which sadly wasn't nominated by the Academy this year, so it's no wonder the former Nirvana drummer didn't attended the awards ceremony or parties.

Next up for Paul, he will perform his first-ever concert in Seoul, South Korea on May 28 and pre-sale tickets for the show go on sale April 7.

Following an incredible 2013 which saw Paul's critically acclaimed 'Out There' tour launch in Brazil and visit 23 cities across South America, Europe, North America and Japan, today Paul confirms he'll be getting back out there by announcing his first ever concert in South Korea, taking place at Seoul's Jamsil Sports Complex Main Stadium this May 28th, 2014.

Regular readers of PaulMcCartney.com may remember that last March model/actress/entrepreneur Lily Cole sent Paul a photo of a busker she spotted in London:

The sign reads: "Sir Paul McCartney! Please have a concert in Republic of Korea!! There are millions of fans waiting for you."

Paul noted at the time, "Lily Cole sent me this pic - may lead to a show in Korea. Hope so!"

We can't say for sure if the two events are related, but we hope that the gentleman on the photo gets to the show in Seoul!

Dan Croll on Music, Muses and Meeting Paul McCartney

In a world of young, manufactured trying-too-hard pop singers, there's something refreshing about a clean-cut, unassuming singer-songwriter in specs that recall Buddy Holly. As a teen, Dan Croll, 23, thought he might have a career in rugby. But a broken leg on the field at 17 ended his sporting aspirations. "I've always been musical and played a couple of instruments," says Croll, "then I decided I wanted to have a go at music."

At 18, Croll left his home in Staffordshire, England, to attend the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. In 2011, his final year there, he won the Musicians Benevolent Fund Songwriter of the Year Award, which included a 5,000 pound, or about $9,000, prize. He used the money wisely. "I ended up making a basic home studio to start recording my own music in my own time." But like most university boys, he admits, "A little bit of it might have gone down at the pub."

The day after collecting his award, he met with Sir Paul McCartney for a 45-minute one-on-one session, a privilege granted to seven students a year, since McCartney is one of the cofounders of LIPA (there is, after all, no more famous Liverpudlian band than The Beatles). Croll played two of his songs for McCartney, one of which, "Home," ended up on his debut album, "Sweet Disarray" (Capital Records), which drops in the U.S. today.

Asked about the experience of jamming with the former Beatle, Croll says, "It flew by so quickly." McCartney quickly learned Croll's songs and sang along and harmonized. "If I could have popped up a microphone and recorded him singing, that would have been great." Although the visit was short, McCartney made an impression. "He's just incredibly down to earth and humble, a very grounded man. I took away from it that it's always great to be open to people and listen to their music; they might influence you further."

'You Gave Me The Answer' Kevin from the USA asks...

2014 is shaping up to be as busy as ever with Paul announcing a string of new live dates in South America and Japan.

Here at PaulMcCartney.com we use a variety of tactics to keep our energy levels up. More often than not this includes a big box of cupcakes (sometimes sent from Paul) and a lovely cup of tea!

This month's question was sent in by Kevin McCarren from the USA, who asks:

"Where do you get your energy from?"
We spoke with Paul as he prepares to get back 'Out There' on his forthcoming tour of Latin America. He answered:

PAUL: "Thank you for your question, Kevin. My energy comes from Sex & drugs! NO! I'm joking! It's simply from having enthusiasm for life. It never runs out!"

PaulMcCartney.com were fortunate to watch one of Paul's shows from the side of the stage in Tokyo last November and the sight of 50,000 ecstatic fans singing along to every word was simply incredible. Speaking with Paul after the show, he told us that one of the reasons he does what he does is down to the fans; their enthusiasm keeps him enthusiastic.
