Paul is getting 'Out There' in Charlottesville and Columbia

PAUL McCARTNEY GETTING BACK 'OUT THERE' IN THE USA

TWO MORE DATES CONFIRMED

June 23 - Charlottesville, VA - John Paul Jones Arena
June 25 - Columbia, SC - Colonial Life Arena

Following an incredible 2014 which saw Paul McCartney's universally acclaimed 'Out There' tour play 32 shows in 30 cities throughout South, Central and North America, Paul has confirmed June 23 at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA and June 25 at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC as the newest installments of the 2015 'Out There' tour.

Paul's date in Charlottesville marks the first time he has performed in the city. He previously appeared in Columbia in May 1993 on 'The New World Tour'.

Currently tearing through Japan and South Korea, and with confirmed headlines at Firefly Music Festival June 19 in Dover, DE, Wells Fargo Arena June 21 in Philadelphia, and Lollapalooza July 31 in Chicago, the June 23 date will mark Paul's first appearance in Charlottesville.

Fans registered with PaulMcCartney.com by 7am (EDT / 12PM BST) on Thursday 30th April will be eligible to purchase pre-sale tickets for Paul's Charlottesville AND Columbia concerts through the website at 9am (EDT / 14:00 BST) on the same day (30th April).

The McCartney live experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity; in just three hours some of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music are relived; music which for many has shaped the very soundtrack of their lives. Paul and his band have performed in a staggeringly impressive range of venues and locations, including outside the Coliseum in Rome, in Moscow's Red Square, Buckingham Palace, at the White House, a free show in Mexico to over 400,000 people, played the last ever show at San Francisco's Candlestick Park where The Beatles played their final concert, and even broadcast live into Space! Featuring Paul's band of the last 10+ years - Paul "Wix" Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) - the show never disappoints.

The tour also uses state of the art technology and production to ensure the entire audience has the best possible experience. With massive screens, lasers, fireworks, unique video content and, of course, the best songs in the world, a Paul McCartney show is so much more than just an ordinary concert. Paul's shows attract a multi generational audience from different backgrounds all brought together by his music.

2015 is already off to an incredible start for Paul. He has appeared on the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards with Rihanna and Kanye West performing their smash hit collaboration 'FourFiveSeconds', treated New York City to an intimate Valentines Day concert the night before appearing on the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary special, and more recently inducted Ringo Starr into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With a sold out tour of Japan and South Korea currently underway and massive US, UK and Europe festival and arena engagements on the horizon, 'Out There' 2015 is sure to be another amazing chapter for a living legend who continues to make history with his every move.

Paul inducts Ringo Starr into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Music fans around the world will have seen that Paul was in Cleveland recently to induct Ringo Starr into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Photographer Lloyd Bishop was on hand for PaulMcCartney.com to capture the event. Check out his photos below:

Read Paul's speech from the night:

"OK. Ringo Starr was born in Liverpool at a very early age, and he had a hard childhood. Real hard childhood, but he had a beautiful mom, Elsie, and a lovely stepdad Harry. Both of them had real big hearts, beautiful people, and they loved music. So at some point during this difficult childhood, Ringo got a drum. Ringo got a drum! And that was it. He was now a drummer.

Later on he joined a group called Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. And we saw these guys when we were out in Hamburg, we were playing out there. And Ringo was like a professional musician. We were just like, slamming around and doing stuff, but he had a beard - that's professional. He had the suit. Very professional. And he would sit at the bar drinking bourbon and seven. We'd never seen anyone like this. This was like, a grown-up musician.

Anyway, we got friendly with him, and he used to come in late n
ight when we were playing, and he requested a couple of songs, so we got to know him. And one night our drummer then, Pete Best, wasn't available, so Ringo sat in. And I remember the moment. I mean, Pete was great, and we had a good time with him. But me, John and George, God bless 'em, were on the front line singing, and now behind us we had this guy we'd never played with before, and I remember the moment when he started to play I think it was Ray Charles, "What'd I Say," and most of the drummers couldn't nail the drum part, it's a little bit [sings a bit of it]. It was a little difficult to do, but Ringo nailed it. Yeah - Ringonailed it! And I remember the moment, standing there and looking at John and then looking at George, and the look on our faces was like, f*k you. What is this? And that was the moment, that was the beginning, really, of the Beatles.

Anyway, then we started this great journey for these four guys from Liverpool who were . . .we just set off on their journey. We did ballrooms and clubs around England, and we got a little work in Europe, and then we eventually came to America. And here we were, we were staying in rooms together. And I wasn't a sheltered kid, but I just had my mom and dad growing up and my brother. So I was staying in a hotel room with a strange man. This really brought us together. We lived like in each other's pockets, virtually. But it was a beautiful thing, a wonderful thing. Eventually we got on The Ed Sullivan Show, and we got really famous. It was just so beautiful. As all the other drummers say, he just is something so special. When he's playing behind you, you see these other bands, they're looking around at the drummer, like, is he going to speed up, is he going to slow down? You don't have to look with Ringo.

It's a great honor for me to be able to induce him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland tonight!"

"Me and the boy in rehearsal for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Love it!"

PAUL McCARTNEY TOPS MUSIC RICH LIST WITH £730M FORTUNE

It might not be a huge surprise to learn that Sir Paul is the wealthiest entertainment figure in the world - but Noel Gallagher, Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay also feature on the annual Sunday Times Rich List.

This year's Sunday Times Rich List has just been announced and Sir Paul McCartney is still standing tall at the top of the entertainment category, with a huge personal fortune of £730million ($1.1billion). The newspaper estimates that Macca made £20million ($30million) in the past year, thanks to sales of classic Beatles and Wings albums, as well as his ongoing tours across the globe.

Ringo Starr and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd also make the Top 10.

The full Rich List will be published this weekend in the Sunday Times.

NOTES FROM THE SOUND CHECK - by Jash, EXCLUSIVELY FOR - The Macca Report

The sound check, check-in for VIP ticket holders began at 1:30pm. Participants waited in the lobby of the dome and were able to sit in provided chairs.

Souvenirs given to the soundcheckers were, a program, laminated pass, bag and bottle of water and a VIP backpack which was not sold at the merchandise stands.

By 2pm merchandise was becoming sparse, because several hundred people were in line.

Paul left the Ritz Carlton Osaka hotel around 3:30 pm, and arrived at the Kyocera Dome at 4:00 pm. The sound check started right away.

PHOTO: Jash for The Macca Report

For the first time at a soundcheck, English was translated into Japanese with Japanese subtitles displayed on the screens at both sides of the stage. Paul joked that Pablo (sound man) was doing the translation, and sometimes got it wrong because he disliked him.

Paul's voice was good, but his hi-note falsettos were a little rough during "Queenie Eye" and "Big Barn Bed."

Paul danced during "San Francisco Bay Blues" as did VIP ticket maven Shelley Lazar who is from San Francisco.

Also, Paul spoke Osaka slang "Kansai" saying words such as "Maido" (thank you for your patronage)

The sound check ended around 4:40pm, which was later than expected because the doors were scheduled to open at 4:30pm, but was everything was behind schedule.

Now THAT'S a welcome! Sir Paul McCartney, 72, and wife Nancy Shevell are mobbed by fans as they arrive in Japan

Aside from selling millions of records, the success of The Beatles was often defined by the hordes offanatical fans who would follow them around the world.

Fast-forward fifty years on and little has changed.

Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy were mobbed by a sea of supporters at they arrived at Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan, on Monday.

The acclaimed singer is there as part of his Out There tour, which will see him play a date in Osaka, before three consecutive nights at the Tokyo Dome before returning to Britain, where he'll play a London show.

Wearing a pair of black skinny jeans with a crisp, white shirt and denim jacket, the rocker cut a youthful figure as he crossed the terminal building.

Clearly sharing the same stylist, Nancy wasn't far behind in her own version of Paul's look - complete with skinny jeans, a casual jacket, sunglasses and trainers.

The star waved at fans as they walked through the arrivals gate, causing screams of excitement from across the airport.

Shortly after landing he took to micro-blogging site Twitter, where he uploaded a personal photograph of himself and Nancy navigating the crowds.

He captioned it with: 'Here we are! Let's rock Japan!', which garnered more than two-thousand shares and a similar number of 'likes'.

The warm reception is a stark contrast to when he arrived in Japan on 16 January 1980.

Touring the world with his band Wings, he was caught with 8oz of marijuana and arrested by officials. Customs officers at Narita airport discovered the drugs in a plastic bag at the top of his suitcase.

Facing the threat of seven years hard labour, he was detained for nine days and forced to clean his cell with a reed brush each morning. After more than a week of negotiations he was eventually released and deported.

Thankfully, that all seems to have been forgotten. In fact, the reception should not have been a surprise for the musician, who has scored another smash-hit with his most-recent LP New, which was released in October 2013.

The album, his first in six years, charted at Number 2 in the Japanese charts - just behind Big Bang's Seungri's solo debut album - selling 23,000 copies in the first week.

According to the Japan Daily Press it was the first time that a musician over 70 years old has broken into the Top 10.

Ringo and Paul at the RRHOF

Earlier in the day, Barbara Bach, Olivia Harrison and Dhani were seen at the RRHOF museum checking out the Ringo display.

During Green Day's speech,
Nancy put her arm around Paul who had his back to her and he leaned back to give her a kiss.

Paul leaned forward to chat with
Yoko who was at the same table wearing a white top hat.

The RRHOF induction ceremony started at 7:30pm and ended at 1:00am. Ringo wasn't inducted until around midnight. First there was a video showing other rock drummers (Tres Cool from Green Day, Dave Grohl, Max Weinberg, Stewart Copeland) talking about Ringo and why he is a great drummer.

Paul came out and made the induction speech. Then Ringo came out and gave his acceptance speech.

Next, Green Day performed "Boys" with Ringo then there was a long wait for the stage to be reset for the next song, "It Don't Come Easy" with Paul Shaffer and band, Joe Walsh and Ringo. "Ringo nailed it" Paul McCartney Inducts Starr Into-Rock Hall Of Fame 2015

When it came to handing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Award for Musical Excellence out to Ringo Starr, there was certainly no one more appropriate for the task than Paul McCartney. Not only are the two men the sole surviving members of the Beatles - for whom they comprised one of rock & roll's most legendary rhythm sections - but it was McCartney himself who kickstarted the process of getting Starr into the Hall as a solo artist. "I talked to Bruce Springsteen and I talked to Dave Grohl, and they both said he should be in," McCartney told Rolling Stone. "And I said I'd do the induction. That took care of it."

During the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies Saturday night at Cleveland's Public Hall, McCartney - who had posthumously inducted fellow Beatle John Lennon as a solo performer in 1994 - bestowed ample praise upon his old mate, along with the award. The final member of the Fab Four to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a solo artist, Starr has released 19 solo albums to date, more than any former Beatle other than McCartney.

Starr's induction was part of a stellar Class of 2015 ceremony that also included the induction of Lou Reed, Green Day, Bill Withers, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and the "5" Royales, the latter of whom were inducted in the Early Influence category.

Read McCartney's full speech below:

OK.

Anyway, we got friendly with him, and he used to come in late night when we were playing, and he requested a couple of songs, so we got to know him.

It's a great honor for me to be able to induce him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland tonight!

Ringo Starr's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Acceptance Speech:

Thank you. I want to thank Paul for all the great things you told us. . .some of them are true. You know, it's a great honor to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I was doing the press and they're all saying, "Well, why did you wait so long?" It has nothing to do with me. You have to be invited. But anyway, apparently I'm invited and I love it. I also love that I got lucky that it's happening in Cleveland, and I'll tell you why. When I started playing, I was playing in skiffle bands, sort of house party bands. . .and you know we had a guitarist, the first band I was in was really great. I had a snare drum and Roy, the bass player had a tea-chest bass with a hole in it and strings.

And so we're playing this skiffle music, playing anywhere we could. And then I joined a couple of other bands and I always wanted to play with great players and I kept moving up a little; up to the next band. Of course, I did end up with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, and when I joined them, we were still a bit of a country-folk band, and the guitarists in those days - this is a nice one for all you big guitarists with the big amps - we played the Cavern Club, which was a jazz club in Liverpool. And he brought a radio to plug into so we'd be electric. And we got thrown off. "Get out of here! That's not quite jazz." Anyway, we started off with a radio, the first amp we had. Things got going a lot better and we ended up playing a lot in Liverpool and around Liverpool. We never made it anywhere else, but while that was going on, I was working in a factory. [Responds to Paul McCartney jokingly tapping on his watch] After the things I've sat through tonight. Blah blah blah. I got some stories.

I was working in the factory and playing at night and every Sunday, you know we lived in England, we only had the BBC. And to madness, there was a small country in Europe called Luxembourg, very small, population of about six. . .and for some reason, they had the biggest radio master. And they bought the Alan Freed Rock & Roll show. And for the first time I heard. . .well I have to backtrack now, wait a minute to '55. . .Bill Haley was my hero. . .he was like the first one. Elvis came in.

But anyway, I'm listening to this guy on a Sunday at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, and I hear Little Richard, first time ever. I hear Jerry Lee Lewis. And heard rock & roll music, because we weren't getting a lot of that stuff in England, and it came from this very small country. So 4 o'clock every Sunday, Rory and I would go to his house and turn on the radio and Alan Freed would introduce us to so many great rockers. And when I was a teenager, once. . .we played Little Richard, "Shag on Down to the Union Hall," it wasn't insulting to us, it's very meaningful. We couldn't believe we could hear this guy on the radio! Shag on down to the Union Hall! That seems a good place to go!

Also, I came from a port. A lot of sailors came to and from Liverpool, would bring music from New York and all over America. They'd drink all the money; they'd sell all records. Anyway, I started collecting a lot of records, listening to music, and ended up in this rock & roll band. With Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, we go to Germany, and that's where I met, you know, the Beatles. I met Paul, John (God Bless You), George (God Bless You). We came back to Liverpool, and there was a knock on my door. The drummer wasn't well and would I sit in? Sure. Anyway, I was living that life then, I was out of the band, and I didn't have to get up till noon. So, that was good. So I went and played a lunchtime session with George, John and Paul, and we had a great time. And then I went and showed in some clubs in Liverpool. They're not around now. I'm sort of part of their downfall. And we became friends, we hung out, and then I would go back and play with the Beatles because the other drummer couldn't make it.

Then, I got a call. We were playing a holiday camp in England, three-month gig, couldn't believe how great that was. Like $24 a week. And I got a call from Brian Epstein. . .I got a call to say, this was Wednesday, would I join the Beatles. And I said, "Well, when do you want me to join?" And he said, "Tonight!" And I said, "No, I can't do that. I've got a band here. We've got a job. I'll come Saturday." Because everybody in Liverpool, we were playing the same songs so, they picked the drums and he could play. That's when this journey started.

It's been an incredible journey for me with these three guys, who wrote these songs. I was talking just the other night. Paul had come in, strummed some song to us, and we played it! We didn't spend a lot of time. There was a lot of joining. . .the Beatles, you know, they were so big and so famous, but they shared rooms, you know. . .every hotel, when we'd gotten one, or guest houses. But when we'd go to hotels, we always had two rooms. And it didn't matter who was with who, what would happen is we hung out. But until any band is in the room, you really get to know your other players. And another tip I brought for all bands who are starting out. . .when you're in the band, here's another tip, if you fart, own up. Everyone's blaming everyone else. . .we made a pact in the van, OK. That's how we get on so well.

I wanna tell ya, it's been a beautiful night, hanging out. . .we're gonna do a few numbers for you next. We gotta follow John Legend and Stevie Wonder for God's sake. Anyway we're gonna start with a number of. . .1960, I did this number. It was a woman that sung by the Shirelles and it just took my fancy - and it's called "Boys."

On this day in Beatles history...

In 1998, Linda McCartney, the wife of former Beatle Paul McCartney, died of breast cancer at age 56 on a family-owned ranch near Tucson, Ariz.

Linda Eastman, a photographer, met Paul at the 1967 London launch of "The Beatles'" "Sergeant Pepper" album. They married two years later.

Following the "Fab Four's" breakup, Linda joined her husband's new band, "Wings," as a keyboards player and backing vocalist. Paul said they only spent one night apart during their 29-year marriage.

In 1970, Paul McCartney released his first solo album, "McCartney."

Paul McCartney, Elton John & More Set for VE Day Concert

Paul McCartney, Elton John and Rod Stewart will headline a special concert celebrating the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, aka VE Day.

The gig will be 1940s-themed and it will commemorate the end of the Second World War in 1945.

It will be held at London's Horse Guards Parade on May 9.

Dame Vera Lynn, a wartime singer who is 97, will also appear during the event, which will live-broadcast in the UK.

We love events with historical richness placed in a modern context. It truly gets the kids who are fans of these artists to think, to remember and to work to make sure certain events in history do not repeat themselves.

VE Day will be marked over the course of the three days in May, with parades and shows being held in the streets.

Comedian Dane Cook's Macca Close Encounter

On Friday night, comedian Dane Cook was performing at the Hollywook Improv. In the audience was Paul McCartney who Cook met after his show. Cook describes in his own words what happened after the show via his Instagram and Facebook pages.

Sir Paul & I after my show at the Hollywood Improv tonight

Last night was pretty special.

Sir Paul came to the show last night and had a great time. He was laughing and applauding the comics and having a blast.

But it's what happened next, that I could not believe happened when I told him we "should do another shoot in the men's room" and he goes "LET'S GO!"

Wait, lemme back up.

He went to go to the bathroom where myself and other comedians that wanted to grab a photo were staked out. When he exited he could not have been more enthused to chat and grab a pic or two or three.

Finally he said, "I was just gonna run to the bathroom and back in!"

"We didn't think crashing the bathroom was the right place for a photo," I replied.

He immediately runs back towards the men's room and says, "Great idea, let's do it!"

And we did. For five minutes we all took crazy silly photos with the legend himself... In a restroom.

I'm in a bathroom taking photos with Paul McCartney.

He laughed, mugged and howled at our impromptu shoot. I also had a quick chat him and I that was really tremendous. He's very gracious.

It's cool to know that many people over the years can say they have a picture with Paul McCartney but no one has a picture with him in the Men's room acting like he was one of the comedians.

Wow!

Paul McCartney and I looking like a couple of kids that once ran away from home to sing a few songs and tell some dirty jokes.

I love my life.

It's just Paul McCartney, Dane Cook and Owen Benjamin all trying to share one urinal at the Hollywood Improv.

Paul Remembers Cynthia Lennon

"The news of Cynthia's passing is very sad. She was a lovely lady who I've known since our early days together in Liverpool. She was a good mother to Julian and will be missed by us all, but I will always have great memories of our times together."

Paul McCartney: 'Lady Gaga hung up on my aide'

Sir Paul McCartney
has clarified Lady Gaga's boast that she put the phone down on The Beatles legend, revealing the pop star actually hung up on his assistant.

The Poker Face hitmaker stated in February (15) that she was working in a recording studio with the rock icon, and claimed the collaboration almost didn't happen because she thought it was "a prank" when he called to suggest a joint project.

However, McCartney insists Gaga is mistaken, telling Q magazine, "Actually it was my assistant,
John (Hammel), she put the phone down on. But her story is much better."

Beatles legend Paul McCartney says he gets inspiration to finish his songs... on the toilet

Sir Paul McCartney has revealed where he finds inspiration to finish writing some of his songs - in the toilet.

The former Beatle, 72, disclosed how he goes about songwriting - and why he avoids penning tracks about sex - in an interview with Q magazine.

And he also hinted that his US wife Nancy Shevell was left impressed by his latest collaboration with rapper Kanye West, because of the song's use of "the n-word".

McCartney, who is famed for being one of the greatest living singer-songwriters, told how he begins writing with any "first line" even "if it's rubbish...to get started".

Asked whether he had ever felt shy about playing someone a new song, Sir Paul told the magazine: "Shy, embarrassed, yes, if it's not finished."

The star, who penned his first song when he was 14, added: "The trick is to go off on your own and finish it.

"Go into the toilet - toilets are good. Separate yourself."

While Wings' 1972 hit Hi Hi Hi was banned by the BBC for its references to sex and drugs, McCartney admitted: "Sex is something I prefer to do, rather than sing about.

"Hi Hi Hi was from a period when everybody was getting stoned and having sex....I suppose singing about sex is not really in my genre."

He added: "I can be angry but I can't find a natural way to put it into a song. It's the same with sex...."

McCartney has been collaborating with West, most recently on All Day, which the hip hop star performed at the Brits.

The musician said: "I think he mentions the 'n' word about 40 times. It's controversial, I know, especially with the climate in modern-day America.

"It really shocked Nancy (McCartney's wife), because she'd been to school with a lot of black kids and been immersed in that experience."

McCartney also revealed that he now believes in star signs and that he attributes his songwriting talents to the fact that he is a Gemini.

"There are two sides to Gemini. And if you listen to my stuff there are two sides to some of it - Ebony and Ivory, Hello Goodbye...so I never used to believe all this, but now I'm thinking 'Maybe there's something in it'."

He said: "I've never been into the zodiac before.... but just recently I've started to think about this wheel of life, and how, at certain points in the year, people get thrown off... and are born."

Jamie Oliver cooks up a sweet song with Ed Sheeran and Sir Paul McCartney

The top chef has joined forces with the musical superstars to promote Food Revolution Day - educating kids about food

Top chef Jamie Oliver thinks he has found the perfect recipe for chart success after making sweet music with Ed Sheeran and Sir Paul McCartney.

The TV chef, 39, has co-written a song with Ed, 24, to be released in May to promote Food Revolution Day, aimed at educating children about food.

Now this is going to be one tasty treat.

The two met in Sydney on Friday night to finalise the recording plans and to confirm the stars who have agreed to take part.

Jamie says: "I got an email this morning to call Paul, he's just put down bass on lyrics on a special anthem that I've written for Food Revolution Day.

"I wrote it with Ed Sheeran. It'll go out in beginning of May, a viral campaign.

"We laid down the tracks and Ed set me the task of going out and getting the band together so I said to Paul, 'Will you lay down bass?' and he said yes!"

From Me To You with love: Paul McCartney's two-line postcard from Mull of Kintyre sells at auction for £1,000

Only two lines long and dashed off with a typically witty flourish, the scribbled note scarcely amounts to a hard day's work.

But even a hastily scribbled postcard can become a valuable artifact when written by Sir Paul McCartney.

The greeting, sent by The Beatles star from his farmhouse on the Mull of Kintyre, fetched almost £1,000 at auction earlier this week.

Sir Paul spent weeks at his bolthole with wife Linda and daughters Heather and Mary after the band split in 1970. But he kept in touch with his London housekeeper, Rose Martin, sending a card featuring a Scotty dog, tartan, lucky white heather and the lyrics 'Should auld acquaintance be forgot?'.

A brief note on the back reads: 'With love from the "four Macs". Now on tour in Scotland.'

With a Campbeltown postmark and an upside-down stamp, it went under the hammer in Warrington, near the band's native Liverpool, as part of a sale of Beatles memorabilia on Tuesday.

Organiser Omega Auctions had valued it at between £250 ($370.65) and £350 ($518.91) but it went for £950 ($1,408.461).

Auctioneer Paul Fairweather said: 'Such intimate, personal and unique things give Beatles and Paul McCartney collectors an insight into how life was for him back then, and very rarely come up for sale.'

Sir Paul, now 72, bought 600-acre High Park Farm on the Kintyre peninsula in 1966 at the height of The Beatles' success, while living with actress Jane Asher.

He has said he was inspired to write The Beatles hit The Long And Winding Road by the estate's 'wandering single-track roads and sense of solace'. After he married Linda Eastman in 1969, the couple turned the modest farmhouse into a holiday retreat.

When the band broke up, the McCartneys headed there to get away from the limelight.

The couple later immortalised their love of the area in the hit song Mull Of Kintyre, which took their band Wings to the Christmas No #1 spot in 1977. The most successful single of his solo career, it went on to sell 2.5 million copies.

Sir Paul once said of the track: 'It was a love song, really, about how I enjoyed being there and imagining I was travelling away and wanting to get back.'

If you think Wings deserves to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...

Should WINGS be nominated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? There's a debate amongst Beatles/Paul McCartney fans whether Wings is covered by Paul's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a "solo artist." Does Wings qualify as a band and are they worthy with a string of number one hits during the '70s? Should its band members be recognized for their contributions?
